As announced on 8 March 2024, Meridian Energy issued New Zealand Aluminium Smelters Limited (NZAS) with a demand response notice under the NZAS Demand Response Agreement 2023-2024.
Today Meridian Energy issued NZAS with a cessation notice under the same agreement, which will see the demand response period end sooner than what was indicated in the original demand
response notice.
As a result, contract quantity under the electricity agreement between Meridian and NZAS will reduce by 10 MWh per half hour from 19 March 2024 to 23 March 2024.
