New Meridian customers only
1. Join Meridian on our residential Everyday Economy 2 year fixed plan between midnight 29 May 2023 to 11.59pm Monday 31 July 2023 and, subject to these terms and conditions, you will receive 12 weekends (12 am on Saturday till 11:59 pm on Sunday) of free power. Free power includes both lines and usage charges. Free weekends will be applied as a bill credit covering the lines and usage charges for the relevant weekend.
2. The Free Winter Weekends offer is only available to new Meridian customers and is not available in conjunction with any other Meridian offer or pricing plan, unless Meridian agrees otherwise at its discretion.
3. The 12 Free Winter Weekends is only available for the 2023 winter/calendar year.
4. In order to be eligible for this offer, you must meet the following criteria:
- you must be a residential consumer as listed on the national electricity registry;
- you must meet Meridian’s standard customer eligibility criteria (for example: credit criteria, refer to Meridian's Standard Terms and Conditions for the Supply of Electricity for more information);
- you must have an eligible and actively communicating electricity smart meter (Meridian are able to process your half-hour consumption data; and
- you must sign up to a two-year fixed rate plan.
5. If you cease to be a Meridian customer before the expiry date of your two-year Fixed Rate Plan, we will charge your final bill with an amount equal to the credits you received under this free winter weekend offer.
6. This offer is only available for your principal place of residence. Holiday homes or secondary properties are not eligible.
7. If you apply and we discover during the switching process you do not have the correct meter type, we will contact you to advise your property is not eligible and discuss other options.
8. Your first free weekend will be the first full weekend after you have switched to Meridian (completely switched over and we start supplying your power) under this offer. If this happens to be on a Thursday or Friday, your Free Weekend will not start until the following weekend. We will advise you by email when your 12 Free Winter Weekends will start.
9. Depending on the timing of your readings and bill generation, it is possible that your first invoice may not include any Free Weekend Credits. If this occurs the credit should appear on your next invoice.
10. There may be times when we need to estimate your electricity usage, for example, where the meter fails to communicate actual read data or where you switch off the mains. If this occurs, we will credit your account with $20 for the weekend that we were not able to get the read for. If the meter continues to fail to communicate during the 12 week period, we may need to move you to another plan. We’ll notify you should this occur.
11. The Free Winter Weekend offer is subject to an expectation of fair use. Meridian’s expectation of fair use is based on the average weekend electricity consumption of a residential consumer. This offer allows for 250 kWh of electricity usage over the relevant weekend. It’s around 6 times the average of a current residential customer's weekend consumption. Meridian may charge (at Meridian’s sole discretion) electricity usage over the 250 kWh limit for that weekend at the standard rate applicable. If we consider that your usage is in breach of Meridian’s expectation of fair use, Meridian reserves the right, without further notice, to immediately suspend or remove this offer from your account.
12. The Credit is not transferrable, refundable or redeemable for cash.
13. Meridian reserves the right to cancel this offer at any time without notice to you. Meridian may also vary this offer at any time by posting revised terms and conditions on our website.
